LONE STAR BASH in Dallas July 9
Some of Dallas’ hottest chefs are teaming up with the Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation (TRAEF) to ‘laissez les bon temps roulez’ at the third annual Lone Star Bash to raise money for Texas ProStart and other TRAEF initiatives. This year’s theme is CAJUNTEX, a celebration of Cajun and Creole cuisine, Texas-style. The event will be held on Sunday, July 9 from 6-9:00 p.m. at 3015 at Trinity Groves, located 3015 Gulden Lane in Dallas.
The Lone Star Bash will be held in conjunction with the Texas Restaurant Association Marketplace (TRA Marketplace) July 9-10 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, the second largest foodservice show in the country. The Lone Star Bash is the signature party for the event for both attendees and exhibitors, and it is the only event during TRA Marketplace that is open to the public.
Guests will enjoy chef-prepared bites from well-known Dallas chefs including Abraham Salum of Salum, Nikky Phinyawatana of Asian Mint, Mark Sciuchetti of Paul Martin’s, Daniel Pittman of LUCK, Jeffrey Hobbs of The Slow Bone, Henry Gentry of Henry’s Ice Cream and event host Chef Sharon Van Meter of 3015 at Trinity Groves. In addition to this culinary extravaganza, there will be a wide assortment of craft beers and cocktails.
Finally, electrifying the evening will be live music from Jay-B & the Zydeco Posse – an exciting blend of creole, hip-hop, soul, and reggae with a strong blues influence. Jay-B and his band are renowned throughout Texas as a driving force in the music scene.
“The restaurant industry throws the best parties, and this is a party with a purpose,” says Roger Kaplan, Chairman of TRAEF. “The Texas Restaurant Association Education Foundation is the educational resource for restaurant owners, employees, and students in Texas. We have dedicated industry professionals, instructors, and mentors committed to the foundation’s success. Additionally, Texas boasts the largest ProStart program in the country, with 249 high schools participating throughout the state. We want to continue building on that growth and couldn’t do it without the support of events like Lone Star Bash.”
Texas ProStart is an industry-based, two-year high school culinary arts and restaurant management curriculum, reaching more than 25,000 students annually. TRAEF also creates opportunities for other students and restaurant professionals to futher their industry education and career.
General admission tickets are $75 per person. Early bird tickets (purchased prior to June 25) are $50. A special VIP ticket is also available for $100 and includes 30-minute advance entry to the event and access to a private bar. All tickets may be purchased online on the TRA/TRAEF website.
